Getting googled, LinkedIn or tagged for a new job |

 nobody let go.. Barely a day goes by without mention of how pervasive social networks are within our lives. But, how many of us consider the value of such networks for finding (or being found for) a new job? Recruiters and employers now rely on such networks as a vital and instant pathway to locating new talent. Facebook recently reached the somewhat awesome milestone of 500 million active monthly users. Such news highlights both the corporate value of such social networks in terms of a business, but also the remarkable amount of personal information which is now being listed and made available online. An increasingly common trend is for individuals to maintain a Facebook profile for their social interactions and membership of a business social network to manage their professional online profile. LinkedIn has emerged as the business network of choice experiencing a vast take-up over the past three years. It now has over 70 million members in over 200 countries and is growing in popularity globally as supported by the network’s CEO, Jeff Weiner, who recently said that "half of LinkedIn’s membership is international” (as opposed to being US based). |

What would make you happier at work? |

Dutch Consulting conducted a poll in May to assess what would make people happier at work.
The overall results were as follows: 34% (of all respondents) indicated that more interesting work would make them happier, 24% increased salary/benefits, 21% flexible working hours, 9% better boss/colleagues, 9% reduced commute. (Graphical results below). |
